Impostor Quiz is a personal project.

What data we use and why

• Playing without an account: we do not ask for any personal data. To prevent abuse (for example, mass creation of games), we keep for up to 48 hours an anonymous fingerprint derived from your IP address that cannot be turned back into the address; we never store the IP itself. Games played without an account are deleted after 48 hours.
• Account with Google: you can only create an account by signing in with Google. Google gives us your email address, your name and your profile picture, which are stored with your account; we never show them to anyone. We also store the nickname you choose (public on the leaderboards), your best scores and your games.
• Hosting: when you visit the website, our hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address to serve the pages and protect them against attacks.

Legal basis

• Providing the service you ask for (account, best scores and leaderboards): Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
• Our legitimate interest in preventing abuse (the anonymous fingerprint): Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Service providers

• Supabase: database and sign-in, on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt).
• Vercel: website hosting.
• Google: sign-in, only if you choose to create an account.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Any international transfer relies on the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep data

• Your account, nickname, best scores and games: until you delete your account.
• Games played without an account and the anonymous fingerprint: 48 hours at most.

Your rights

• You can delete your account at any time from your profile: your account, nickname, best scores and games are deleted for good.
• You can change your nickname from your profile.
• You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, aepd.es).

Cookies and local storage

This website does not use cookies.

We only use your browser’s local storage for what is strictly necessary:

• your session, if you sign in with Google;
• the game in progress, so it can be resumed if you reload the page;
• a game played without an account that is waiting to be saved to your account (24 hours);

We may update this text when the website changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
